Courtenay councillors are joining the Stick in the Mud Club.
Council approved a sponsorship of $500 to the Project Watershed Society to sponsor the cost of carbon dating one wooden stake from the ancient fish traps in the Courtenay River estuary Monday.
Nancy Greene and Jim Gillis recently spoke to council about the multi-year mapping and research work undertaken in the past seven years on the thousands of aboriginal fish traps in the estuary and asked …

A variety of artists came together, Keeping It Living by donating 50% of the price of their artworks, sold through the online auction, to Project Watershed for their work on restoring and preserving the Courtenay River Estuary.

Keeping It Living Gala a huge success!

On Saturday evening, May 29th,,at the Courtenay & District Fish & Game Protective Association a sold out crowd of over 200 residents of the Comox Valley were delighted by food, drink, sights, sounds and stimulating ideas, all to honour the Comox Valley’s most important natural resource, the Courtenay River Estuary. Seventeen pieces of art by local artists were sold, with half of the proceedings going to sponsor activities by Project Watershed on the estuary. Campaign Finale: Semi-Formal Gala Event featuring Gourmet Buffet of Local Food

On May 29th, at the Courtenay & District Fish & Game Protective Association Hall on Comox Lake, the “Keeping It Living” Awareness Campaign of the Comox Valley Project Watershed Society will hold a special Gala Event featuring a gourmet buffet menu prepared by Custom Gourmet Chef Dawn McRae.

Volunteer chefs wanted!

The Estuary Gala is coming up this Saturday (the 29th) and we have a bunch of delicious local food items that need to be turned into entrees, appetizers etc… for our buffet.
The gourmet chef Dawn McRae has made a menu and will be showing volunteers how to prepare the dishes – like a cooking course you don’t have to pay for! So we are looking for volunteers who would be interested.
Volunteer chef’s will need to be available 12:00pm til 5:00pm May 29th.
